The Gates open!

Hello everyone!

Well after years of preventing myself from indulging in something like this I have finally decided to start up my own Miniature Wargaming blog. Why now? Because it’s the perfect time to get in on the ground floor of Age of Sigmar related stuff! I have always wanted to do a 40k blog, but since there are so many out there I never bothered. This is my chance to share my opinion on a brand new game and hopefully influence some people along the way.

Anyways who am I? My name is Chris, although I usually go by my middle name of Stone and I live in Montana. We don’t have a huge meta here but the one I play in is absolutely great and about the furthest thing I could imagine from the nightmare metas you hear about online. I have been playing wargames for about 5 years off and on, and I REALLY got into 40k about 2 years ago (despite having a Space Wolf army long before). Unfortunately due to circumstance I never had a chance to play WHFB and thus never built an army (almost pulled the trigger on Wood Elves last year though), so my insight into AoS will be much more 40k influenced. My current armies include: Eldar (my main), Adeptus Mechanicus (Skitarii and Cult Mechanicus), and Ultramarines. Those are supplemented by smaller forces of Harlequins, Dark Eldar, Imperial Knights, and Blood Angels. I am planning on collecting an army of Storm Cast Eternals for Age of Sigmar, and knowing myself that probably won’t be my only army.

I will mostly focus on writing about Age of Sigmar on this blog (obviously), but I will probably write about 40k and GW in general. I am usually very interested in GW’s business practices so that will probably be a topic I bring up often. I’m also a big gamer so I may post something related to that from time to time, but it will be rare. I am almost always optimistic about this hobby so expect mostly positive posts. I’m not fanboy so I will criticize GW when I feel the need (like the $28 price tag for their new gold spray paint, WTF?!?), but don’t expect a hate fest. I have no issue with people posting their opinions and such, but if comments end up being overly negative I will do something about it.

I would love to talk to anyone who wants to have a genuine conversation about this hobby so please feel free to contact me. I DON’T want to talk to people who just want to bitch about GW though, but I’m more than happy to have a civil debate on the matter. I ask only that everyone keep an open mind.

Well let’s see how this goes! I plan on posting a few more times over the next few days, but will probably relegate my posts to once every week or so after that. Hopefully I can come up with enough compelling stuff to keep people coming back! I know there isn’t a whole lot to comment on in this initial post, but please let me know if my writing style is hard to read, how the formatting is, or any other constructive criticism. My next post will likely be tackling the why of AoS and my personal thoughts on what GW was thinking. Thanks for reading and hopefully we’ll see you next time!

PS. No idea if it’s ok for me to use any of the pictures I am since I’m new at this, so if anyone has an idea if GW or someone will send me a cease and desist for it let me know ;). Other blog sites seem to use promotional stuff so I figured it was fine.

  1. Excellent stuff! I’m intending to collect up some Stormcast Eternals and, hopefully, actually get to play with them as well! While I’ve always enjoyed Fantasy, and am super interested by what’s happening with AoS, I’ve been leaning heavily into 40k as far as the tabletop side of things goes, so I suppose I’m coming at it from the same angle. At any rate, I’m looking forward to reading more from you 🙂
